What’s the best thing about working with Lorna?
- Personally, the best part about working with Lorna is her role as a mentor. She’s been instrumental in my professional growth, guiding me to where I want to be in the business and offering invaluable advice on areas for improvement.
- She truly values all her employees.
- She is the Boss 😊
- She is always available to help, provide advice and to have a general catch up/talk to no matter how busy she is and not just as a boss but as a very good friend.
- The open book honesty during a chat. Anything can be said both ways and it’s always taken as it should. Makes chats super easy and straightforward.
- She always cares so much about everyone, I have never known anyone else to be so kind and generous to their staff.
- She genuinely cares about everyone, is always there to talk to, and is so understanding of “life” cropping up and flexibility with staff.
- Having a job! And the occasional Maccies run 😋
- Sometimes, she will get breakfast for the whole office on Fridays!!!
- Funky looking boots in the office and more smiles than frowns 😊
What’s the worst thing about working with Lorna?
- Well, let’s just say there’s a frequent appearance of McDonald’s breakfasts in the office, and that’s not exactly ideal when summer is right around the corner!
- She is the Boss!
- She does not like our music taste 😟 we wait until Lorna leaves the office then, within minutes, all the dance, indie and rap music comes on – Sneaky, Sneaky!
- Unable to walk in the rain due to sensitive hair without a brolly.
- Random meeting cancellations.
- Calling me to say she has lost a shortcut, the shortcut was one of the 10 or so on the desktop 😉
- She’s not a fan of some of my more dance-heavy playlists, so its ‘middle of the road’ tunes when the boss is in for the most part!
- [COMMENT REDACTED] 😛
- She doesn’t use the ticket system if she needs help with IT issues.
- My belly line with all those choc brownies and McD’s treats
What is Lorna the best at?
- Lorna’s greatest strength lies in developing the business. Having been with Q2Q before Lorna’s time, I’ve witnessed the substantial growth she’s brought to the company. Her strategic vision has truly transformed us.
- She is a spreadsheet ninja.
- Doing Boss things 😊
- Seeing into the future!
- Lorna has an outstanding mind for future planning and budgeting. She has built several master spreadsheets for the business this gives the ‘all seeing eye’ over the business financials. Making any decision involving money a very quick decision.
- Making food last a very long time. She enjoys every small bite of it, often taking hours to eat something.
- Understanding people, she often knows how I feel before even I do. She has proper mind-reading skills.
- In a word – People!
- There is no coincidence that the team she has built at Q2Q are so like-minded and have such similar values and goals. It feels like a family here for that reason.
- Being boss lady of course!
- Keeping things relaxed but formal when needed, always willing to chat and great at listening.
What is your favourite memory of working with Lorna?
- One of my favourite memories with Lorna is when she offered me the Q2Q contract after my apprenticeship ended. I’ve never looked back. Also, the countless discussions on personal development have been incredibly valuable.
- Coming into work hardly able to walk after she’s been to the gym! It’s comical to watch 😊
- Being understanding.
- The day Lorna dressed up in what could be described as a unicorn outfit, we were all threatened that if we ever spoke of this day (which we never will) we would be sacked on the spot.
- The moment she won ‘manager of the year award’ in at the Lancaster BID awards 😊
- When Lorna bought her latest car, and it was so big she struggled to get up into it.
- Most of our one-to-one meetings can often involve us talking in silly voices to each other making every meeting such great fun! There is never a boring meeting 😉
- Too many to list, but one that springs to mind is when we visited an Expo together for a networking event, and our Q2Q stand was located opposite both a funeral director with example head stones facing us, and next to that was a wedding singer who would randomly start singing songs by Madness or the Blues brothers – you couldn’t write it! We made a swift exit at the soonest possible opportunity!
- It isn’t technically my memory, but when she drove up to the office blasting “Living My Best Life” on her stereo.
- Likely my interview, was so relaxed and made to feel at ease.
If you could change one thing about Lorna, what would it be?
- I’ve mentioned this to Lorna before, but if I could change one thing, it would be to have her in the office every day. I believe it would greatly benefit the team. However, as the boss, her schedule is understandably packed, and she can do what she likes!! #earnedtheright
- For her to truly believe she is the making of this company – she is a natural leader who has steered this company to the best it has ever been.
- Yeah right, not falling for that one!
- I genuinely cannot think of anything I would change about Lorna she is just amazing!
- To stop complaining about the extra hard gym sessions she doesn’t like. Lorna, they are supposed to be tough!
- Be a little taller so she can get into big cars without problems.
- Can’t think of anything at all to be honest!
- She’s perfect the way she is, not falling for that 😉
- I’m sure she’s not perfect!….but can’t think of anything!!
If you could steal a particular talent from Lorna, what would it be?
- If I could grab one of Lorna’s talents, it would be her business sense and people skills. I admire how she handles both the business side of things and relationships with others. It’s something I am currently learning from and adding to my bag of tricks!
- Her excellent people skills.
- Boss stuff.
- Her ability to own so many pairs of boots/trainers and her ability to keep buying more; where does she store them all?
- Her ability to take her cool budgeting and planning mindset and be able to apply to my own world / life.
- To quote Hermione Granger – Lorna is “highly logical which allows her to look past extraneous detail and perceive clearly that which others overlook” 😊
- It’s not a talent perse but a day with the company credit card would be nice!!!
- Her ability to hush Damien’s cacophony of random noises, she found the mute button when no one else could.
- Laid backness…is that a talent?!
