iOS 15 introduces new features for FaceTime calls, tools to reduce distractions, a new notifications experience, added privacy features, complete redesigns for Safari, Weather, and Maps, and more.
Which devices can get it?
All Apple phones from 2015’s iPhone 6S and newer, can install iOS 15.
How do I get it?
Open the Settings app on an iPhone or iPad then go to General > Software Update. Tap install, verify and then reboot to install. You can also install the update on a Mac or iTunes on a Windows computer. Although older Mac machines may be unable to get the update, version dependent.
Although it lacks the major changes introduced in version 14, iOS 15 has many new convenience features and improvements to Apple’s built-in apps!
New FaceTime Features- Apple’s FaceTime video calling service can now be used on Android and Windows PCs. Apple users can share a link to join a call from a browser without an account. Calls are still end-to-end encrypted.
New Focus Mode – New for iOS 15 are Focus options, which expand the capabilities of the existing Do Not Disturb mode. Notifications only come through based on your current Focus mode. Work, personal time, sleep, fitness, mindfulness, gaming, reading, and driving all receive different levels of notifications.Third-party messaging apps can be updated to support the feature too.
Maps-The Maps app now offers a new 3D view in cities with significantly enhanced details, showing buildings, pedestrian crosswalks, bike lanes, and more.
Safari- features a completely new design. Controls are now easier to reach with one hand and give more focus to a webpage’s content.
